The Gig East Exchange is Open for Coworking!

After a long standoff with COVID-19, the Gig East Exchange has officially opened its coworking membership. There are two coworking memberships available, Workweek Warrior and All Access. Workweek Warriors have access to the coworking space in the first and second floor lobbies of the Exchange Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and 5 hours of conference time each month. All Access members have unlimited access to coworking space and 10 hours of conference time each month. Both memberships also include an invitation to Exchange events and business services like printing, mail, and business phone.

“We are excited to officially offer coworking here at the Exchange,” says Brittany Smith, Customer Support Manager for Gig East and Greenlight Community Broadband. “Providing a space where community members can collaborate, while enjoying a great cup of coffee, has always been the ultimate goal for Gig East.”

Exchange facilities are cleaned daily so that all our members have to worry about is accomplishing their goals. If you think a coworking membership is the right fit for you, give us a call at 252-296-3474.

Eastern North Carolina's Innovation Hub

If you live in Wilson, you’re no doubt familiar with the term Gig East. The Wilson-specific coinage refers to the town’s set of programming, community events, and networking that are focused on economic development, technology and innovation. Gig East is comprised of 3 main components – Gig East Exchange, Programs/Meetups, and Gig East Summit.

WAAT Celebrates First Graduating Class

Congratulations to Gig East partner, Wilson Academy of Applied Technology, for celebrating the graduation of its first cohort of students. 35 students received their high school diplomas as well as Associate degrees from Wilson Community College.

Reflecting on the accomplishment, Krystal Cox, WAAT principal said: “The WAAT Graduation was spectacular! It was great to get to this milestone as a school. We graduated our first cohort of students that started with us in August 2016. These students worked hard, were committed, and will go into the workforce, college, or the military, prepared for the future that awaits them. I am extremely proud of them, and because of them, we have a thriving school that will support generations of students after them. I would be remiss if I didn't thank our community partners like Greenlight. Our partners help us provide a hands-on experience for our students.”

Member Highlight: Rhyan Breen, Breen Law

Rhyan Breen, Attorney at Law, is a Gig East Exchange Virtual Member. He focuses on criminal defense and assisting entrepreneurs and non-profits with start-up processes like organizing, incorporating, and operating. He has served Wilson, Nash, and Edgecombe Counties since 2009. In addition to his legal services, Rhyan pours into the community by serving on the board of the Y.O.U.T.H of Wilson, the Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina, Arts Council of Wilson, the Imagination Station, and the North Carolina Youth Advisory Council. He also serves as an elected member of the Wilson County Schools Board of Education. We are so glad to have Rhyan as a member of the Gig East community!
